Headway East Lothian
An Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) is an injury caused to the brain after birth. Injuries can arise from strokes, tumours, aneurysms, falls and infections, such as encephalitis, among others. The effects of a brain injury can be numerous and wide ranging for ABI sufferers, their families, and their carers. Brain injury is complex, which means that no two injuries are the same and people will experience any number of mild to severe symptoms.
For advice on coping with changes following an ABI, please contact us and view our factsheets available for download, at:

How can we help?
Headway East Lothian offer sessions in Musselburgh, Haddington and Dunbar throughout the week, for individuals with an ABI to attend. These groups are a gateway to a social network of people who have an ABI in common or who care for an individual with an ABI. We have speakers, entertainment, tea, coffee and nibbles, as well as monthly outings to interesting places! In addition to the sessions, we can provide: information on ABI, information on managing symptoms, outreach, a sympathetic ear, advice on welfare and benefits, advice for those wishing to return to work and much more. Please contact us to see how we can help you.
