In
December 2003, we met in the Maitlandfield Hotel to see if anyone had an interest in forming a Headway group
in East Lothian.
Now, in 2006 we hold two meetings a week.
We meet on Monday afternoons between 13.00 -16.00 for a drop-in session to chat, have tea/coffee and to meet our friends.
We also meet on Wednesday evenings
in the
Doughty Centre in Haddington: 18.30-20.30.
We have games, quizzes, speakers,
therapist, or sometimes just a good moan, (which is quite nice at times), and of course
tea/coffee and biscuits!
Why not come along !
See for yourself and meet new friends.

Headway East Lothian is Thrilled to
Welcome
the Musketeers sorry the new Volunteers
Jamia is a mother of 2
children who both have special needs and is looking to spread her wide knowledge
into adult services. Jamia brings a maturity and richness of experience in
disability issues to Headway East Lothian and has previously done volunteer work
with a children’s advocacy service. She will be coming along to our Monday sessions and to some Friday
outings; many thanks and a warm welcome to Jamia.
Kitty
is a final year physiotherapy student at Queen Margaret’s University and
with this comes a degree of flexibility in her learning hours. Kitty is a
participant in the Millennium Volunteer Project; the MV Awards recognize the
number of hours a young person volunteers. Certificates are awarded for 50, 100
and 200 hours. Kitty brings professional advice and information to our members
to help them with mobility issues, youth and exuberance and a willingness to
learn. Kitty can come along on Mondays and Wednesdays and to the Friday outings
too! Welcome also to Kitty.
Robyn is an Occupational Therapy
student who is soon to graduate with her Honours in July 2008. Robyn attends
the Headway sessions on Mondays and on the Friday outings and is also part off
the Millennium Volunteer Project. Robyn is able to bring a practical knowledge
of the physical and social effects that an acquired brain injury can bring to
both the participant and their families and seeks to provide support and advice
in this regard to each of the members.
We need more of the same! If
you know of people who would like to volunteer. Please contact our
